The paradise island of Mauritius hosted the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open at the wonderful resort of Anahita.  Strong winds on a very long golf course battered the players all week.

Unsurprisingly, the conditions suited the best ball strikers and there are few more solid than Richie who at one point on the final day moved into a tie for third place. In the end only two players finished under par. Richie finished in a tie for 7th, closing with a round of 73 (+3 in total) which followed rounds of 71, 74 and another 73 on Saturday.

It was an encouraging week all round for McEvoy who has been playing very solid golf all year and just needs his putter to light up.

And the relevance of the plate of curry?  Well, RM is partial to an Indian and the fusion of cuisine in Mauritius is heavily influenced by South West Asian flavours.  The curries there are sublime!!!  Having visited Mauritius a couple of times myself, I asked Rich to send me a couple of “scenic/off-course” shots…  I was expecting a stunning beach or perhaps a tea plantation… what I got was a plate of curry!!  Thanks RM!!
