Weekend rounds of 67 and 68 for Richard McEvoy rocketed our man to a 5th place finish in the Lyoness Open and with it a huge leap up the Race to Dubai.  Despite a terrific week in Austria, McEvoy departed Diamond Country Club disappointed having missed out on his best chance to date to claim a maiden victory on the European Tour.

Without knowing what was going on around him, McEvoy went flag hunting on the penultimate hole.  His slightly pulled second shot found sand where he failed to get up and down.  A further bogey on 18 left Rich two behind eventual winner – Dylan Fratelli who finished on -12.

All in all a good week and one that guaranteed a start in the BMW International in Munich in two weeks, a much needed improved category on the European Tour for the remainder of the 2016/17 Race to Dubai and a big move up the official world golf rankings to 420.

Well played “Maccas” – onward and upward
