Following the incredible last hole drama courtesy of Ernie Els and Adam Scott, golfers of all standards arrived at Royal Lytham & St. Anne’s to tackle one of the most under-rated (and hardest!) links on The Open rota.
A three club wind in sunny conditions proved the undoing of many of the participants and in the end former Middlesborough footballer – Craig Hignett captured the crystal jug with a fine score of 34 points. Two clear of Ross Kaye on 31 with Jenahura Open stalwart – Richard Collins claimng third spot with 29 points.
In the team event, Andy Kimpton chipped in at the last for a birdie three to successfully defend his title for Oakmont Construction (76) who once again narrowly pipped arch rivals LJJ by one point!
Out on the course likeable Tour Pro – Jamie Elson entertained clients on the ninth hole for the “beat the pro” challenge with only three golfers getting inside Jamie’s precision tee shots leaving plenty of champagne for left over for the tournament after party!
