We are thrilled to announce European Tour star Pedro Oriol from Spain has become the first International player to join Jenahura’s elite stable of tournament professionals.
The 31 year old golfer from Seville, Spain secured his European Tour playing rights with an impressive display of consistency throughout the 2017 Road to Oman campaign eventually claiming 10th spot in the Challenge Tour rankings.
Aside from regaining his tour card, the highlight of Pedro’s season was collecting his first Challenge Tour title in the prestigious Rolex Trophy. Inspired by his idol and legend – Seve Ballesteros, Oriol wore a trademark Seve visor inspiring him to a final round 65 (-7) and a tie for top spot before claiming an impressive victory on the first play-off hole over Adrien Saddier.
On the 1st January 2017, Pedro wrote down two goals; “I am going to win on the Challenge Tour in 2017 and I am going to get my European Tour card back”. With both goals accomplished, the charismatic Spaniard is back on the big stage having served his apprenticeship and is excited at the prospect of playing regular European Tour golf once again.
Oriol made both cuts in the first two events of the Race to Dubai in Hong Kong and Mauritius and currently lies in 65th position in the Order of Merit.
Later today, Pedro resumes his 2017/18 Race to Dubai journey in the City of Ekuruleni in the BMW South African Open.
Martyn Norris, Managing Director at Jenahura commented “I have been following Pedro’s progress closely over the past couple of seasons. He hits the ball miles and has the talent, determination and resilience to play at the very highest level. There is no limit to how good he can be. Away from the golf course, he has a terrific personality and oozes that wonderful Spanish charisma. We are very excited to have secured his signature.”
Oriol said “It was great to accomplish my goals last year but I wanted the support of a management company who were willing to invest time to support me and help take me to the next level. I have spent some time talking to Martyn at a number of tournaments this year and I believe we will get on very well. Jenahura have a great group of people and that was exactly what I was looking for to develop my career. It’s going to be a very exciting year.”
The agreement was signed in the press centre at the BMW South African Open. Pedro tees off at 12:10 later today.
