Ben Amor is making a habit of finishing his golfing year in style.  Last Sunday, Ben headed into the final round of Alps Tour Q-School perilously close to the qualifying mark and in need of a good performance to secure his playing rights on the European feeder tour which boasts an impressive Hall of Fame.

A bogey four on the 3rd hole moved Ben outside of the automatic qualifying spots temporarily but he responded brilliantly with back to back birdies on the 4th and 5th followed by an eagle on the Par-5 9th.  A further birdie on the 10th hole gave Ben a comfortable cushion but in windy conditions around the tricky La Cala Resort layout there is nowhere to hide until you make it to the sanctuary of the clubhouse.  A bogey on the 13th was cancelled out by another birdie on 14 before closing with four par’s and a final round of 69 – good enough to finish in a tie for 21st position on 1-under par.

Earlier in the week, Amor eased through first stage qualifying with rounds of 70-69.

A delighted Ben commented “It’s been a tough year and I really wanted to finish on a high.  It feels good heading into the new year with playing rights on the Alps Tour and MENA Tour.  I’ve worked hard this year but things just haven’t quite clicked.  This is just the boost I needed before the Christmas break, I’m thrilled!”
